Fire Extinguishers require inspecting every six months and also need to be discharged, pressure tested and refilled every five years. Testing intervals are recorded on a label or metal tag attached to the unit. TIS Electrics offer a complete fire extinguisher testing and inspecting schedule along with change over and certification service that complys with Australian Standards.

Our technician will check for dents, rust, cracks, pressure gauge operation, safety pin being straight (a bent pin will not come out!), anti-tamper seals or OK indicators intact, correct weights, blocked or cracked hose, pressure test dates, head-cap degradation, o-ring and washer condition, pressure relief valves, location, wall-mounting, labeling.
Upon completion, a maintenance metal tag will be stuck on the unit neck with the correct information filled in.

In addition, you will be given a detailed written report with all that was done and the parts used and the technician.

Pressure Testing

For most extinguishers, they will need a pressure test every five years. This is a workshop service and will involve a hydraulic pressure test to comply with pressure vessel legislation and a new valve. In practice, these will be a service exchanged system..
